The etymology of the words “healthy”  and “holy” come from the same Proto-Indo-European word “kailo”, meaning, “whole”. Thus, in order to be truly “healthy”, one must seek to become “whole” - that is, to seek harmony and balance between the body, mind, and spirit. I grew up with the belief that all things in nature are “alive” with and connected by a vital life force and that ultimately, a person’s health is an expression of this force. Therefore, it’s important to keep in mind that any journey undertaken to bring harmony to the body, mind, and spirit should also include bringing harmony to the vital life force in one’s own community as well as the natural environment one lives in.

This is why when I formulate products for AstroBotanico, I endeavor to use the whole plant rather than just isolated constituents in a single extract form because I believe this is the best way to bring harmony to the body, mind, and spirit and help you become whole. Likewise, when I source my ingredients, I strive to support farmers by paying living wages or better to those who grow using organic, biodynamic, and/or regenerative farming methods because I believe that the quality and strength of the healing constituents in a healthy plant depends upon the health of the environment it’s grown in.

In this way, “Whole Plant. Whole Planet. Whole People.” is both an ethical prayer and a promise to cultivate harmony and balance with every product I create.
