Inflammation

It’s inevitable that sooner or later, every one of us will have to deal with inflammation of some kind or another - a fever, allergies, a bee sting, a migraine, strep throat, a sprained ankle, lower back pain, a sinus infection, an abscessed tooth, obesity, or any medical condition ending in “-itis” (appendicitis, pancreatitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, etc.)

The inflammatory process is part of the body’s innate healing mechanism that gets activated as a means of self-protection. The purpose is to remove the harmful stimuli and begin the healing process. When discussing inflammation, we’re mainly talking about either acute (sudden or rapid onset) or chronic (long-term.) While it may not seem like it, there are actually some benefits to inflammation in both cases. However, chronic inflammation can be a major driver in poor health and can bring about destruction of the organism if not properly dealt with.

Unfortunately, the way most people deal with inflammation can be just as dangerous and destructive as the inflammation itself, and in many cases do even more damage long-term. Drugs like Advil, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, and corticosteroids are handed out like candy, much to the detriment of people’s health. Not only do they come with a litany of really dangerous side-effects - ranging from damage to the immune system, liver damage, heart disease, vascular problems, heart failure, stomach ulcers, stomach bleeding, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, and abdominal pain - but they’re used primarily for symptom relief only. These drugs may be useful in extreme cases of acute inflammation, but not so much for chronic inflammation.

Knowing how to properly address inflammation can go a long way towards optimizing your health, and it’s because of those reasons listed above that I’ve included it in this program. Of course, uncovering what’s driving the inflammatory process and addressing the root cause would be on the top of my list, but having knowledge of alternative supplemental therapies for chronic inflammation is a good strategy to have in your toolkit whenever you need it.

Now, it’ll probably come as no surprise that nearly everything we’ve discussed so far in this program will have a beneficial effect on chronic inflammation...so you have that working for you if you’re implementing these strategies...especially grounding.

However today, I’m going to list my top recommended anti-inflammatory/pain supplements so that you can have some good options on hand in your medicine cabinet should you need it.

  • Turmeric/curcumin - another good reason to drink Howdy, Dude and Mellow Tone!

  • Systemic enzymes

  • CBD oil

  • "Inflammatone" (curcumin, ginger, systemic enzymes, Boswellia, quercetin, resveratrol)

  • "EurOmega-3" by Euromedica

  • Magnesium oil

  • Glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM"

  • Ginger

  • Arnica

  • "White Willow Forte" (white willow bark, curcumin, ginger, boswellia, bromelain)

  • "Boswellia Phytosome" by Thorne Research

  • Capsaicin

  • Homemade bone broth/gelatin (I write about the benefits here)

  • Collagen powder (I use “Multi Collagen Peptides Powder” from Codeage)

Take note that each one of these has their own unique benefits and actions on inflammation, as well as methods of use and delivery (cream, patch, pill, liquid, food, etc.) You can sign up for a free account with my Fullscript dispensary to order these and many other supplements and receive 15-20% off everything you order all the time.

I've worked with clients who’ve developed pretty severe complications from long-term use of NSAIDs, and it utterly destroyed and disrupted their life and health for a very long time. Sadly, the cause of their inflammation would have been a relatively easy fix had they just addressed it early on in the first place. The side-effects from these drugs are no joke - don't wait until it's too late!
